Before I started filming inside a custom cabinetry shop, my experience buying cabinets was pretty basic. The two times in my life that I went cabinet shopping, I assumed cabinets were… just cabinets. I didn’t really know what questions to ask. Pressed wood, real wood, MDF — whatever. At the time, I figured if you were buying custom cabinets, you probably just wanted real wood and called it a day.
Little did I know how much more there is to it.
When I started creating content for SOLLe Solutions, I quickly realized how much happens behind the scenes that most customers never get to see.
Solle Solutions is owned by Sergiu and Ioana, who originally started the company out of their garage in Montreal. Today, the company operates out of a 19,000-square-foot shop in Kyle, Texas, just outside Austin. Their flagship location in Montreal is constantly packed with projects, and the Texas shop is quickly becoming a destination for homeowners and builders looking for custom cabinetry in Austin and the Texas Hill Country.
One of the biggest things I’ve learned while filming here is the importance of in-house millwork and manufacturing. SOLLe Solutions handles design, millworking, manufacturing, and installation all under one roof. Most people shopping for cabinets don’t even realize this is possible.
But it is — and honestly, it’s one of the best ways to approach a custom cabinetry project.
When everything is done in-house, there’s no outsourcing, fewer delays, and much more control over quality. The team designs each project around how the homeowner actually lives, and then builds it right in the shop using modern CNC equipment and traditional millworking techniques.
For anyone searching for a cabinet maker in Austin, seeing this process in person changes how you think about cabinetry. It’s not just cabinets — it’s custom millwork, precision design, and craftsmanship working together.
From a content creator’s perspective, documenting the process every day has been eye-opening. What looks simple when you open a cabinet door in your kitchen is actually the result of careful planning, design, millwork, and installation that all happen behind the scenes.
And that’s something most people never get to see — unless they step inside a shop like this. Interested in hearing more? Contact Sergiu and Ioana for your custom cabinetry needs.
